Rex Noah Loop, age 82, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2019 at National Health Care of Joplin.
Rex was born March 11, 1937 in Pontiac, Michigan, son of the late Milo L. Loop and Dorothy Somerville Loop. He grew up in Michigan, and joined the United States Army Air Corp where he served with the 11th Airborne Paratroopers, and was stationed in Germany. He was proud of his Marksmanship Medal in firearms, and was also a boxer for the Army with a record of 17 - 1 (the one loss was to a fighter that later went pro).
After his service he returned to Pontiac where he worked for over 30 years with General Motors in the Truck and Bus Plant as a supervisor over the parts department. He also earned a Black Belt in Judo and Karate. He was a member of the Hornet Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by a grandson, Austin, three brothers, and a sister.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Karen Welling Loop; daughters, Karen Loop of Joplin, Myrna McCullum and husband Gary of Palmetto, Florida; son, Mathew Noah Loop of Joplin; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Tim Buell of Jessup, Maryland, and Mike Loop of St. Helen, Michigan; sister, Edith Cady, of Big Rapids, Michigan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Hornet Christian Church with Pastor Butch Ward officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
