(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Alberta Alburty, age 96 of Joplin MO, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 following a brief illness.
Alberta was born June 19, 1924 in Columbus KS, to Albert and Helen (Haydon) Kelley.
She married J.R. (Ray) Alburty December 25, 1941. they stayed happily married for more than seven decades. Ray preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elsie Meadows, a son Robert Alan Alburty, and a granddaughter Courtney Leigh Kidwell.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Sue Kidwell of Broken Arrow, OK, son John Alburty and Wife Lori of Joplin, grandchildren, Monica Kidwell of Broken Arrow, OK, as well as Jonathan and Craig Alburty of Joplin. She is additionally survived by 4 great grandchildren, Michael Smith of Alexandria VA, Abigail and Katherine Smith of Broken Arrow, OK and Aspen Alburty of Joplin.
A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Alberta was a dedicated homemaker and loved nothing more than taking care of her family. A long time area resident, she was a member of the Joplin Women’s club, a one time member of the Round Dance Club and thoroughly enjoyed her Bunco group.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Mason Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation beginning at 12:00pm Thursday, prior to the service.
Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
