Jerry Snider

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

On July 29, 2021, Gerald Wayne Snider (Jerry), loving husband and father to five children, passed away at the age of 73.

Jerry was born on March 23, 1947, and raised in Wichita, KS.

In 1979 Jerry moved to the Baxter Springs, KS community where he participated in several community organizations including the Baxter Springs Lions Club, Girls Softball league, Wal-Mart Santa Claus, and others.

His career focus was sales through newspaper advertising in the Wichita and Joplin, MO areas, auto and real estate sales, and the operation of his own business and advertising agency. He once ventured into the local political arena by running for city councilman on the “Curmudgeon Platform.”

Jerry loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and golfing with his friends, bingo with his wife, comedy television shows, baseball rotisserie league, music and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, jokes and word play, trivia and worthless facts knowledge, challenges to the system, deep love, and commitment to family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Melanie, 5 children: Libby Snider, Jeffrey Snider, Sarah Gould, William Snider, and Casey Kloeckener, along with their spouses; grandchildren: Emma Gregory, Riley Thulin, Zachary Snider, Dylan Gould, Shayla Gould, Savannah Gould, Delaney Gould, Hadley Snider, Bennett Kloeckener and Easton Kloeckener; a sister: Maxine Male; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Paul Snider, and sister, Betty Lou Anderson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Farewell Tribute to share your stories of remembrance on August 14, 2021, at the Baxter Springs Lions Club, 115 W 14th Street, Baxter Springs, from 3 pm – 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Baxter Springs Lions Club LEOs fund, c/o American Bank, Baxter Springs, KS.
