(From Brenner Mortuary)On Friday morning, August 6, 2021, at 7:12am, Thomas G. Marshall left this earthly home for his eternal home, surrounded by loving family.
Tom was born August 9, 1938 to Lois Fay Whistance and Opal Forest Marshall in Cedar County, MO. He attended Wagoner School and graduated from Stockton High School in 1956.
He married Juanita McGraw in 1958, they had two children and later divorced. He married Beverly Johnson Dale in 1970, they had two children and later divorced. He married Suzanne Stewart Bruce on April 20, 1990, she survives of the home.
At age 12, following his father’s death, Tom started working as a farm hand. He moved to Pittsburg, working at Dicky Clay for 18 years before becoming a carpenter. He owned and operated Marco Construction until health forced his disability in 1991.
He was a member of The Presbyterian Church and past member of the noon Kiwanis. He was proud to belong to a group of “mall walkers” and a long time participant in the Via Christi cardiac rehab. He was a long time Scouter, a past Assistant Scout Master of troop #120, past Scout Master of troop #150, co-organizer of the Tom and Jerry Camp Out and a member of the Order of The Arrow. He supported the Frontenac Band Boosters and Football Boosters.
Tom was an avid sports fan following all local teams, especially if he had a child or grandchild playing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Joyce Whitlock of El Dorado Springs, MO, brothers Donnie Marshall (Janice) of Carl Junction, MO, and Gary Marshall (Mickey) of Neosho, MO, sister-in-law Diann Marshall of Stockton, MO, sons Patrick Marshall (Larry Godwin) of Atlantis, FL, and Jeremy Marshall of Frontenac, KS, daughters Glennis Peck (Pauly Lawson) and Mindi Dorsey (Bill) both of Pittsburg, stepson Greg Bruce (Kari) of Pittsburg, KS, stepdaughters Amy Smith (Niel) and Julie Akins (Rusty) both of Pittsburg, KS, loved by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth Marshall and Forest Marshall, grandson Alonzo Dorsey, and niece Lesa Marshall.
Funeral services will be on Monday, August 9th, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Brenner Mortuary with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 8th, 2021 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Memorial donations can be made to The Mirza Shrine General Fund or a church of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS.
