Carol Battitori

Carol J. Battitori, 82, of Girard, passed away at 8:22 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at her residence in Girard.

Carol was born September 22, 1939 in Hutchinson, Kansas a daughter of William (Bill) E. and Opal L. (Sharps) Francis.

On January 21, 1961, Carol Francis and Dr. John Battitori were united in marriage in Wichita, Kansas, John survives of the home.

Carol attended school in Hutchinson, graduating from the Hutchinson High School in 1957. She then attended Hutchinson Junior College, Wichita State University, Pittsburg State University. Carol received her master’s degree in special education from Pittsburg State in 1990.

Carol was dedicated to the education profession and served it well. She began her career at Holy Name School in Coffeyville, Kansas, later in Frontenac, Kansas as a specialist in special education.
Before beginning her career, she dedicated her time to raising a family.

When Carol wasn’t busy with teaching our children and raising her family, Carol found time to pursue her love of quilting, nature, bird watching, she loved her birds, Royals baseball, United States Women’s Soccer and Wichita State Athletics.

Carol was an active member of the Saint Michael’s Catholic Church of Girard.

In addition to her husband of the home, she is survived by two sons, Edward J. Battitori of McCune, Ks. Tony F. Battitori and his wife Donna of Joplin, Mo., two daughters, Lisa C. Battitori of West Mineral, Ks., Angela S. Battitori of Port Orchard, Washington, two sisters, Mary McDonald, Susan Moore, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jack Francis and two grandsons.

A private funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Star Cemetery near West Mineral.

Memorials are suggested to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or Harry Hynes Hospice and these may be let at the funeral home or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John, P.O. Box 258, Girard, Kansas 66743.
