(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Mr. Joe Pogue, 82, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Joe was born on Saturday, May 13, 1939 in Stella, Missouri, to the union of the late Ellis and Lorraine (Kistler) Pogue. He attended Midway School and furthered his education obtaining his associate degree.
On May 14, 1960 he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Farney. For twenty-nine years he worked as a supervisor for AT&T. He was a member of Graceway Baptist Church.
Joe was a Christian man who was a dedicated husband of sixty-two years and a father to two children. He was well known for his infectious grin that was commonly seen while he would affectionately tease those around him as his way of showing love. He spent many evenings tinkering with electronics, watching Hallmark movies and playing pitch, the card game he loved. He never knew a stranger, made all those around him feel welcome and could be commonly seen as the last person coming out of church after a service. He was a man of simple pleasures who loved his wife, his family and his dogs. He will be missed by all who knew him as he now rejoices with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Tracy Glouse and husband, Michael, of Monett, Missouri and Randy Pogue and wife, Patty, of Woodland, Texas; grandchildren, Tandi Mulherin and husband, Craig, Hunter Wammack and husband, Chandler, Madyson Spain and husband, Blake, Parker Pogue and Payton Pogue; great-grandchildren, Finley Mulherin, McCoy Mulherin and Lincoln Wammack; one niece and one nephew; sister, Carolyn Sanders and husband, Gene, of Stella, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.
