(From Parker Mortuary)Iris Yvonne Gross, age 76, passed away peacefully in her home on April 12, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren.
Iris was born on December 24, 1945 in Lancaster, Ohio. After graduating high school, she served in the United States Army from 1964-1967, Iris taught elementary school in the Moore School District in Moore, Oklahoma for 34 years. Moore is where Iris always considered home, although she moved to Neosho, Missouri when she retired in 2007 to be near her grandchildren.
Iris was a devoted Oklahoma Sooners football fan and loved cooking at her church on Wednesday evenings. She also enjoyed substitute teaching part time. The only person Iris loved almost as much as her family was Neil Diamond. In the hours and days before her final moments before entering into God’s arms, her family played all of her favorite songs by her sweet Neil.
Iris (Grammy) loved spending time with her grandchildren and her daughter.
Iris is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ellison, and her grandchildren Brighten, Camryn and Cale.
