(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)Mr. Gary Richard Barlett, 74, of Oronogo, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.
Gary entered this life on May 22, 1947, in Webb City, Missouri, one of sixteen children born to the union of the late George and Georgia (Gilliam) Barlett. He was raised and attended school in Webb City.
After high school, he enlisted and served his country faithfully in the United States Army during Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, Gary enrolled in the Police Academy at Missouri Southern. For several years he served the citizens of Webb City as Police Officer. Following the police department, he owned a private security company, cleaning service and mowing company for over twenty-five years. He loved old westerns, spending time with his grandchildren and his afternoon naps. Gary attended worship services at Destiny Church in Webb City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and eleven siblings, Mary Louise Barlett, Janice Reed, Debbie Barlett, Patricia Thurlo and Ed, Don, Jim, Mickey, Rocky, Ronald and Wayne Barlett.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon Barlett of the home; four children, Michelle Lambeth of Oronogo, Kimberly Johnson of Verdigris, Oklahoma, Ricky Barlett of Webb City and Karrissa Barlett of Joplin; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four siblings, Sherry Barlett of Wichita, Kansas, Beth Maynard of Oronogo, Tony Barlett of Joplin and Steve Barlett of Jasper; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in the chapel of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Bebee officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
