(From Parker Mortuary)LaVerne Tucker, 87 of Carl Junction, MO passed away April 26, 2022 and went to be with the love of his life, Helen. LaVerne was born March 15,1935 to Richard Garland Tucker and Lena (Dority) Tucker. He was one of seven children, having 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
LaVerne was very proud of his service in the US Marine Corp, where he enlisted in1954 and spent boot-camp in San Diego, Cal. before shipping overseas where he worked in the hospital in Osaka, Japan for 6 months before transferring to Okinawa in the Kadena hospital for the next 2 years before returning home in 1957 when he was honorably discharged.
Another accomplishment he was proud of was his 35 years working for MODOT on the highway crews. In his younger years he loved playing golf and doing woodworking. He was very active in many social and area activities: CJ youth sports, band boosters, CJ parks board, CJ senior housing authority, and a member of the local American Legion.
LaVerne and Helen Strait were married on January 15, 1960 in Carl Junction at the Nazarene church, she preceded him in death on February 9, 2015.
He is survived by a son Mark Tucker, Carl Junction, a daughter Sherry Adams and husband Clay, Springfield and a niece Pam Kelley and husband Bill, Joplin. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren , Craig, Ryan, Erin, Kyle, Alexis, Asher & Levi and 4 great grandchildren, Bailie, Samantha, Chris & Addy. Sister Phillis DeMond of New York, sister-in-laws Juanita Tucker of Ohio, Margaret Hall & Bobbie Skoglund of Carl Junction also survive.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard Tucker, Melvin Tucker, & Garland Tucker and sisters, Shirley Hawk & Virginia Rach.
Graveside services are pending at this time.
