(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Laura Joan Pittman, 80, of Carthage, Missouri passed away, 8:12 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Laura was born on December 27, 1941 in Mountain View, Missouri, the daughter of Ralph Railsback and LaVerna Isabell (Mace) Railsback. She was a long time Carthage resident, having moved to Carthage in 1979.
Laura was a CNA at Fair Acres, St. Luke’s Nursing Center and Carthage Health and Rehab. She was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Laura was united in marriage to James R. Pittman on January 2, 1967 in Fillmore, Utah; he survives.
Laura is also survived by four sons, Ralph Curtis Pittman (Brad Brewer), James A. Pittman (Shannon), William E. Pittman and John B. Pittman; one daughter, Alice M. Girton (Perry); thirteen grandchildren, Norma, Dixie, Joe, Dallas, Alexis, Connor, Austin, Madison (Cameron), Brandon, Catherine, Lillian, Lucas, and Elysia;
and five great grandchildren, River, Mary Jane, Ellie, Aiden, and Benson.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and LaVerna Railsback; one daughter, LaVerna “R” Nicewinter Railsback and her husband, George; one grandson, George; two sisters, Lois Evans and Octavia June Railsback; and two brothers.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. Contributions may be made to Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
