Mary Braddish

Mary A. Braddish, age 93, of Joplin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Joplin Health and Rehab with family at her side.

Mary, daughter of the late Joseph Horvat and Mary Fabian Horvat was born September 5, 1928, in Plavecky Stvrtok, Czechoslovakia. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Horvat Jr. and John Horvat and her husband, Herbert.

Mary was baptized at Saint Mission Catholic Church in Plavecky Styrtok and in 1929 Joseph and Mary loaded up Mary and her older brother, Joseph, and boarded the RMS Mauretania for the voyage to their new home in America. They settled in the area around Flushing, New York.








Mary married Herbert Braddish Jr. on August 26, 1950, and from this marriage they had five sons. In 1961, Herbert was transferred to Joplin, MO, with Fairchild Camera and Instrument and Joplin became their new home.

Mary spent most of her life as a housewife taking care of the five boys.

Later in life she worked for Brady Stevens real estate, Ray's Furniture and then spent almost 20 years with St. John's Medical Center. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 61 years. She was also a 40-year survivor of breast cancer.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Braddish (Peggy), Stephen Braddish (Mary), Robert Braddish (Joanne), Thomas Braddish (Gwen) and Kevin Braddish, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four
great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff and workers for their caring attention to Mary during her stay at Joplin Health and Rehab.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at St. Mary's Church in Joplin, MO. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, MO.

The family will receive friends at a time of visitation Tuesday evening at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
