Gayland Maize

Gayland Merle Maize, of Monett, MO, departed this life on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO at the age of 73.

He was born on December 1, 1948 in Lockwood, MO to Merle Friel and Dorothy Mae (Bentley) Maize. Gayland graduated from Lockwood High School and attended Missouri Southern State College. He was united in marriage to Paula Janice Coltharp on April 26, 1986 in Springfield, MO. He was a farmer, and also owned and operated Maize Brothers Painting. Gayland enjoyed gardening and was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family , especially his grandchildren.








Preceding him in death were his parents, Merle and Dorothy Maize; one son, Kevin Maize; and his sister, Carolyn Boehne.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Maize of the home; five children, Roshelle Maize and partner Chris of Springfield, MO, Jason Maize and wife Shanna of Granby, MO, Chris Maize and wife Lindsay of Bella Vista, AR, Darrin Maize and wife Jennifer of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Dianna Barnett and husband Andy of Miller, MO; his brother, Mike Maize and wife Linda of Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Pennsboro Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
