Lee Mahon

Lee Charles Mahon, age 73, Joplin, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at his home with family at his side.

Lee was born January 4, 1949 in Valparaiso, Indiana, son of the late Jack C. Mahon and Verna (Brown) Mahon. He grew up in Indiana, and graduated from Indiana State University in 1976, and then from Ball State University with a master’s degree. 

 He started his career as a teacher in Indiana where he taught for 10 years before moving to McDonald County, Missouri where he taught for another 27 years before retiring. He was a proud member of the Missouri State Teachers Association. He touched many lives during his teaching career, but his favorite time was spent with his family. He enjoyed spending time reading, and working on old guns, restoring them to working order. He will be greatly missed by many.








Survivors include his wife, Hazel (Wallace) Mahon; daughter, Amy Campbell; step-children, Michelle Noblett and Brian Noblett; grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa, Emma, Thomas, Dillon, and Courtney; a sister, Karen Schmidt and husband Arthur; several nieces and nephews.

Committal of his ashes will be Friday, 10:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Chaplain Danny Mullins officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
