David Sanford Clow, a noted and prolific watercolor artist, passed away June 16, 2022 at the age of 82 in Mesa, Arizona. David was born April 26, 1940 in Lamar, MO. He was the son of Harold and Lucille Clow.David graduated high school at Joplin, MO.
He joined the Marine Reserves at the age of 18 and received training at Camp Pendleton in California.
On returning from service he enrolled at Kansas State University in Pittsburg as an art major where he met his future wife, Bonnie Lee Dawson, also an art major. They married November 11th, 1960 and moved to the greater Kansas City area where they lived for over 30 years.
David worked as an artist and then in sales for local newspapers while also becoming a volunteer firefighter. He later joined the Grandview, MO Fire Department where he worked for over 20 years until he retired. During this time he continued his painting career, displaying his watercolors in galleries and art shows across the country.
David co-founded the Brookside Art Annual in Kansas City, MO with his wife Bonnie. They were also committee members and worked and participated on the Art Westport art show, also in Kansas City, MO.
Upon retiring they traveled the United States, Canada, and Mexico for several years before settling in a new home in Mesa, AZ where life was enjoyed at a slower pace.
David passed away June 16, 2022, just 5 months short of their 62nd wedding anniversary.
David is survived by his wife Bonnie of their home in Mesa, AZ, only daughter-Lezlie Stephens of Overland Park, KS, granddaughter-Alisha Sage, and great granddaughter-Madelyn Sage, both of Olathe, KS. He is also survived by his sister-Connie Bogner of Nixa, MO, and brother-Donald Clow of Branson, MO.
David was interred in the IOOF Cemetery at Neosho, MO.
