Lawrence Katzfey

Lawrence Louis Katzfey, Jr. was called to the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2022, after a month long illness. His love for his family filled his days with joy and his most favorite time recently was weekends with his granddaughter who would come for a visit, and he would wake up to PopPop and open arms ready for a hug.

Lawrence married Dewenda Boatman on May 2, 1987. They were blessed with two children: Katie and James.

Lawrence was the family computer guru, the contractor’s counterpart and the best job of all, awesome dad. He didn’t know a stranger, and if he did you were not a stranger for long. He was the problem solver for many and loved by all. He had many a brother-by-another mother in his life and he kept them
all close.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dewenda, daughter, Katherine (Jacob Butler), son, James
(Cheyenne Anderson) and one grandchild AnnaJane. His parents, Lawrence Katzfey, Sr. and Doris Tinkle, sisters Theresa Sooter (Dennis), Susan Connelly (Jim) and Sylvia Evans (Randy) along with a plethora of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.


Memorial services to be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, October 22 nd at 10:00 a.m.
Celebration of life to follow at his home in Joplin. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to St. Vincent De Paul Joplin Missouri.
