Eva Lycan

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Eva Lycan, 87, long-time Joplin resident, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 in San Antonio, TX.

Eva was born July 14, 1935 to Ernest and Nell Leuellen in Anderson, MO.

She married William “Barton” Lycan on June 1, 1955. During their 67 years together they shared 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Eva was active in her church from a young age. Eva and Barton joined Wildwood Baptist Church in 1959 where they served in many capacities until 2020. One of her great passions was the church library at Wildwood where she served as Library Director for many years. Eva loved and cared for her family well across the years. She never tired of sending notes and making calls to let her family know she was thinking about them. She was a tireless caregiver to many in our family over the last 30 years. In her free time, Eva was an avid gardener, quilter and nonstop reader of books.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband Barton; her parents; brothers Jim Leuellen, Joe Leuellen, and John Leuellen; son Mark Lycan; and grandson Sean Lycan.

She is survived by daughter Connie Barton (Don); son John Lycan (Cara); grandchildren: James Barton (Jennifer), Allen Barton, Amie Wright (Trey), Thad Lycan (Erin), and Luke Lycan; great grandchildren: Rylee, Katie, Sean, Bria, Khloe, Everett, Grayson, Kimber, and Camden.
