Carl West

Carl Eugene West, age 87 years, 3 months, 28 days, passed away October 19, 2022 at Lake Stockton Health Care, Stockton, MO.

Carl was born June 21, 1935, to Virgil Euell & Audrey Lee (McBride) West. He was the oldest of 6 children. His siblings are Darrell West, Ardith Schmutz, Iris Spence, Kermit West, and Denzil West. He spent his childhood in the Humansville and Stockton area. 









He attended Stockton High School and met the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Higgins. They were married on September 3, 1957. They were blessed with 6 children Cheri Dodson, Carla Barnes, David West, Darin West, Davea Potts, and Leslie West. Carl and Sue opened their home to foster children, foreign exchange students and many other bonus children and friends.

Carl served in the Army prior to being married to Sue. Carl was a jack of all trades. He was a taxi driver, worked in construction, locksmith, and most recently heating & cooling and farming.

Carl had a love of animals and people. His grandkids all enjoyed visiting to drive the backhoe (he always found some work that needed done), fish in the pond with cane poles, train and ride horses, go hunting, learn to shoot guns, and beg him to make whistles out of goose feathers. His love for animals was evident as he cared for different animals throughout his life including, cows, horses, dogs, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, guineas, birds, emu, skunks, coyotes, deer, rabbits, peacocks, geese, turkeys, raccoons, and the list goes on.

Carl is survived by his wife Sue of the home, Cheri & Willie Dodson, Stockton, MO, Carla Barnes, Stockton, MO, Darin West, Jerico Springs, MO, Davea & Larry Potts, Golden City, MO, Leslie & Gayla West, Jerico Springs, MO, along with many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kermit West, sister Ardith Schmutz, son David West, grandson Jon Carl West, son-in-law Randy Barnes.








Visitation will be Sunday, October 23 at 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Bland-Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton, MO. Services will be Monday, October 24 at 10:00 AM at Stockton Assembly of God Church with burial in Alder Cemetery.
