(From Parker Mortuary)Caroline Kay Tubbs, age 81, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at her home.
Caroline was born on May 15, 1941 in Hill City, Kansas to the late Walter William Jenkins and Myrtle Henderson Jenkins and had lived most of her life in Joplin.
Caroline was a graduate of Joplin High School, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in English Education from Southwest Missouri State and a master’s degree in Secondary Teaching from Pittsburg State University. She was an English teacher at Carthage Senior High School from 1966-1971 and 1984-2022, teaching and inspiring generations of students over the decades.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Wesley Tubbs. They were married for 52 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Cecily Tubbs; a son, Trenton Tubbs, and wife, Holly Maloney; three grandchildren, Finlay Maloney-Tubbs, Milo Maloney-Tubbs and Leela Maloney-Tubbs; sister- and brother-in-law, Shirley and David Winward; and two nephews, Kyle Winward and Aaron Winward.
Caroline enjoyed visiting flea markets and collecting antique furniture, lamps, figurines and quilts. She and Max also spent many years attending concerts of the Rolling Stones and their other favorite sixties’ bands. And she always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
No formal services are planned. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Inurnment will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
