(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Chester “Champ” Colley, age 82, passed away at 9:12 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at his home. He was born May 19, 1940, in La Russell, Missouri, the son of William James and Leila Ruth (Galloway) Colley.
Champ was a 1957 graduate of Miller High School in Miller, Missouri and was the ultimate businessman and a cattle farmer. He also served in the Army National Guard.
On July 8, 1972, he married Betty Jo Murphy, in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2020.
Champ is survived by his daughter, Terri Quinten and her husband, Mike, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Lance Burk and his wife, Andrea, of Stotts City, Missouri, Tonya Gilmartin of Sarcoxie, Missouri and Austin Quinten and his wife, Marie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren, Allyson and Lillian Burk, Kelsea, and Shawnea Jackson and Callan Quinten; two sisters, Glo Bills of Wichita Falls, Texas and Faye Berry of Ozark, Missouri; one brother, Dave Colley of Texas; one brother-in-law, JC Kessinger of Stark City, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Champ was preceded in death by his parents, William, and Leila; wife, Betty; son, Lewis Burk; grandson, Leslie Burk; sister, Veda Kessinger and two brothers, Hoyt, and Mason Colley.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m.
on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Colley Cemetery, north of Stotts City, Missouri.
