(From Parker Mortuary) Edward Alford Brown, age 76, Carl Junction, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City after a short illness.
Ed was born August 16, 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, son of the late Noah E. Brown and Ann (Clark) Brown. He grew up in Fresno, California and Prescott, Arizona where he graduated from Prescott High School before joining the United States Air Force. He served our country for four years leaving with an honorable discharge in 1971.
He later moved to Carl Junction where he went to work for the Joplin Police Department where he worked for over 24 years, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1997. He then worked with F.A.G. for two years, then Freeman Health Systems in the I.T. Department for another 15 years before retiring in 2014. He was a quiet man who loved listening to classical music, reading, sports, and spending time on his computer. He was a lifelong Lutheran.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Brown.

Survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Sherry (McKnight) Brown of Carl Junction; daughters, Brooke Walker and husband James Walker, III of Webb City, Kari Buffer and husband Scott of Carl Junction, and; Godson, Ronnie Brown Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Jace Buffer, Kelby Buffer, Landry Buffer, Dylan Walker, Kyonte Collins, and James Walker, IV; great-grandson, Maverick Walker; brothers, Richard Clark and wife Lindi of Reno, NV, and John Jenkins and wife Gloria of Bentonville, AR; sisters, Martha Hillman and husband Jim of Lamar, MO, and Chris Walker and husband Scott of Galena, KS; brother-in-law, Bullsie Oney of Webb City; sister-in-law, Dawn Oney of Webb City, several nieces and nephews including his beloved niece, Lauren Oney-Stadler.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with Pastor Ted Easley officiating. Interment will follow in Weaver Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
