(From Knell Mortuary)Dawn Dees Goodwin, 57, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday evening, October 19, 2022, at her home. Dawn was born on November 15, 1964, in Covington, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Lola Perry. Dawn relocated to South Florida where she started a family and had 2 daughters. This is also where she eventually met the love of her life, James Cornell, in 2001.
Together they relocated to Carthage, Missouri, in 2003 and continued their lives together with their daughters. Dawn loved taking motorcycle rides to different towns and finding new restaurants with James, while he would often pamper her and show her what she truly deserved in life. She also enjoyed quiet evenings at home grilling and trying new recipes out with him. Although, her true talent was making the best gourmet sandwiches in the world.
In addition to spending time with James, she lived for her four grandchildren. She loved seeing them thrive in school, sports, school presentations and even frequent video calls. She was so proud of how they were growing up. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, as were her daughters and James.
Survivors include her two daughters, Rachelle VanGilder (Keith), Carthage, Missouri, and Kristi Greuel (Justin), Carl Junction, Missouri; her soulmate, James Cornell; grandchildren, Ashlynn VanGilder, Kaysen VanGilder, Blaine Greuel, and Lylah Greuel; a sister, Contressa Perry, Carthage, Missouri; a niece, Brittany Perry; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her four older sisters, Valeria, Corinne, Beverly, and Arenta.
Per Dawn’s wishes, there was cremation. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
