(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Brenda Kay Hodson, 68, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 in Joplin, Missouri. Brenda was born November 30, 1953 in Lebonon, Missouri to Richard Lillard and Nina (Masterson) Grimmett. She attended Grace Pointe Assembly of God.
Brenda worked with children at her church through Royal Rangers and Impact Girls for a long time. She was the National Commander for Royal Rangers. Brenda also baked foods from all around the world for Boys & Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC) events. She enjoyed collecting teddy bears and cookbooks.
Brenda was united in marriage to Don Hodson on August 15,1971 at the First Assembly of God in Carthage, Missouri; he preceded her in death on May 16, 2007.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Angie Smith and her husband, Don, of Carthage, Missouri; three grandchildren, Adara, Skylor and Araya Smith; her mother and step-father, Nina and Sanford “Short” Grimmett; her step-mother, Loretta Lillard; three siblings, Rodney E. Lillard, David R. Lillard and Cynthia Lillard; three half-siblings, Daniel Lillard, Ritchie Lillard and Diana Lillard; and four step-siblings David Qualls, Terry Jones, Jerry Qualls and Mike Grimmett.
Brenda is preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Hodson; two grandchildren, Shire and Ashin Smith; her father, Richard Lillard; and one step-brother, Sandford “Sandy” Grimmett.
Services will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Grace Pointe Assembly of God in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Grace Pointe Assembly of God. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Royal Rangers and BGMC in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
