Dolores Boyer

(From Parker Mortuary)

Dolores Garcia Boyer, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital with family at her side.

Dolores was born September 30, 1936 in Villacanas-Toledo Spain, daughter of the late Moisés Plaza and Crescencia Torres Plaza. She grew up in Madrid and graduated from high school there. Dolores lost both her parents at a young age, and her sister, Sagrario, was very instrumental in her life. She met Levern Boyer while he was stationed in Spain, and they were married on December 20, 1965 in Madrid. They moved with his military career for several years before landing in the Joplin area. She was a gifted seamstress, and worked for Kassab's Department Store for years before they closed. She then worked for the Bridal Boutique, and most recently was working from her home doing alterations, and making clothing. She was affiliated with both St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Joplin, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Dolores Boyer was so very special. She was a very hardworking and giving person. She raised six kids on her own, and always put their needs before hers. She was very kind and selfless. Dolores was a fighter, and had been through a lot the past few years with her health. The last two weeks of her life, she really showed just how brave and strong she was. We will also never forget her sense of humor. Dolores also was a big fan of Elvis. She was a devoted Catholic and was loved by the community. She loved being outdoors and going to church every Sunday, but most of all, she adored her family and children.

She was preceded in death by her father, Moisés, mother, Crescencia, brother, Angel, and her sister, Sagrario and her husband Jesus.

Survivors include her sons, Luis Boyer and wife Ellen of Carl Junction, Missouri, Robert Boyer of Galena, Kansas, and Richard Boyer of Lamar, Missouri; daughters, Ana Saint of Blue Springs, Missouri, and twins, Donna Sue Barnes and husband Bobby, and Betty Lue Boyer all of Joplin; grandchildren, Christopher Lee Boyer, Tiffany Nicole Boyer, Nathan Darrell Boyer, Justin Michael Saint, Nicole Ana Saint, Angela Sue Barnes, Andrew Darryl Barnes, Wyatt Lee Barnes, and Tyler Jennings; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kiley, Ava, and Neil; many beautiful nieces and nephews in Spain.

A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father J. Friedel officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Luis Boyer, Richard Boyer, Andrew Barnes, Chris Boyer, Justin Saint, Wyatt Barnes serving as pallbearers.
