Margaret L. Smith, age 92, Asbury, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Galena Nursing Center.
Margaret was born July 22, 1924 in Cossville, Missouri, daughter of the late Bert Pugh and Ophelia Decker Pugh. She was a lifelong resident of the Asbury area, and graduated from Alba High School. She was a member of the I.O.O.F Rebekah Lodge, New Providence Baptist Church, and was an avid bowler in this area, having belonged to many leagues throughout the years.
She married Verl Smith on February 14, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Burbridge: a son, Leroy Smith; granddaughter, Julie Rago; a son-in-law, Gary Reynolds; two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include a son, Clint Smith and wife Carrie of Jasper; daughter, Janice Reynolds of Joplin; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edith Pugh of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mount Hope Open Air Pavilion with Rev. Bob Simon officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery by Parker Mortuary.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Galena Nursing Center care of Parker Mortuary.
