Rosalie Burt

Rosalie Marie Burt, age 89, Joplin, passed away at 2:48 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Freeman Health System.

Rosalie was born November 17, 1926 in Compton, California to the late Francis Marion Arant and May Leveigh Morris Arant. She lived in Joplin from 1939-1943, when her father served as pastor at South Joplin Christian Church and moved back to the area in 1962.

Rosalie was a licensed real estate agent for many years, operating in California alongside her mother and, in Missouri with her husband, Charles. Together they created, owned and operated Charles Burt Realtors for many years.

Rosalie was a member of the Realtors Association, Club 44, Joplin Garden Club and was a recipient of the Realtor of the Year award. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, where she was involved with bible study groups and part of the 55 Lunch Bunch.

She married Charles Burt in 1944 in Inglewood, California and shared seventy two years together. He survives at the home.

Additional survivors include their children, Janis McGrew Sturgis and husband, Mike, Joplin, Jim Burt, Joplin, Charles Allyn Burt and wife, Pennie, Joplin, Rosalie Biastock and husband, Doug, Joplin, David Burt, Cedar Creek, Missouri, Kathleen Spidell and husband, Jackson, Joplin; two sisters, Roberta June Sheets, Joplin, Alice Carlson, Berry Creek, California; one brother, Allen Arant, Bonaire, Georgia; grandchildren, John McGrew, Jason McGrew, Julie Trahin, Troy Burt, Brian Burt, Nathan Burt, Andrew Zimmer, Skylar Burt, Tyler Burt, James Burt, Jr., Julianna Lance, Jennifer Burt, Jill Askins, Autumn Easter, Molly Sears, Paul Greninger, Sarah Rosalie McDowell, Melissa Werle, Adrienne Martz, Robert Martz, Sam Sturgis, Michael Sturgis, Jackson Spidell, Jamie Bassler; and thirty one great grandchildren and several extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by a brother, David Eugene Arant; a sister, Dorothy Whyte; and a daughter-in-law, Diana Burt.

Services are planned for Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Bruce Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be John McGrew, Jason McGrew, Edward Vasquez, Troy Burt, Mark McDonald, Robert Martz III, Paul Wise, Sam Sturgis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society or to the First United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
