Steven Wayne Williams, age 58, of Lamar, passed away Thursday morning, August 25, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
Steve was born July 23, 1958, in Smithville, Missouri, one of the five children of Woodford and Wanda (White) Williams. At a young age, he moved with his family to Mindenmines and graduated from Liberal High School in 1976. Steve then joined the Army National Guard and proudly served his country for 20 years. In addition, he worked for 30 years at O’Sullivan Industries. When the plant closed in 2007, Steve hired on at Leggett & Platt, working in Carthage until ill health forced his retirement in April 2016.
On June 4, 1999, at Las Vegas, Nevada, Steve married his best friend, Linda Kay Howerton and they made wonderful memories bowling, fishing, and camping together. Steve was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed any movie, as long as John Wayne was in it. His greatest joy came from the fellowship of good friends and time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; three daughters, Tina (Gary) Stauffer, Belton, Missouri, Aubrey Williams & companion, Robert Hada, Nevada, Missouri; and Audrey (Matthew) Hart, Sheldon, Missouri; a brother, David Williams & Ann, Lamar; three sisters, Pat (Charles) Burr and Linda (Keith) Franklin, all of Lamar, and Juanita (Mike) Boyd, state of Virginia; and four grandchildren, Trinten and Ethan Stauffer, Jeremy Knowlton, and Emma Hada. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, Tom Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time Saturday.
