George Townsend, 93 years, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, August 15, 2016, at his residence.
George was born on May 26, 1923 in Rogers, Arkansas to the union of Ollie and Mable (Fletcher) Townsend. He married Velma Coffee on February 19, 1944 in Bentonville, Arkansas and to this union three daughters were born. George worked his way up to Plant Manager at the International Paper Company in Joplin, Missouri retiring after 30 years; following his retirement, he was a consultant for the Company. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing and traveling. George attended the New Life Fellowship Church in Anderson, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 54 years, Velma in August of 1994; two brothers, Joe Townsend and Robert James Townsend; a sister, Wanda Townsend.
George is survived by his three daughters, Norene Repka of Pineville, Missouri, Nancy Ellis of Anderson, Missouri, Linda Cosgrove of Pineville, Missouri; a brother, Dickie Townsend of Jane, Missouri; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss George.
