Ruth Florence Strote, 90, of Joplin, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 8:50 a.m. at her home, surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born April 15, 1926 in Fairfield, Vermont to the late Pasco Austin and Abbie Austin. Ruth grew up and lived in Rockford, Illinois until 10 years ago when she and her husband, Harold moved to Joplin. She worked as a hairdresser for over 50 years, 15 of those years at Fairhaven Nursing Home as well as owning her own beauty shop.
Ruth married Harold W. Strote on September 2, 1950 in Rockford, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2011. Additionally, Ruth is preceded in death by all of her siblings.
Surviving Ruth are two sons, Scott Strote and wife, Cindy of Palos Park, Illinois; Ted Strote and wife, Ellen of Joplin; grandchildren, Benjamin Strote, Jesse Strote, Abbey Holm, Mathew Ciesla and Brittany Perry; great grandchildren, Levi, Luke, Allison Julian, Ian and Sully.
A private family graveside service will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
