June Rushing

Mrs. Wanda June Rushing, 84, of Sarcoxie, MO departed this life on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family.

June entered this life on August 20, 1932 in Sarcoxie MO. She was salutatorian of the Sarcoxie High School class of 1950, and later attended Bethany Nazarene College. On August 24, 1952 she was united in marriage to Hilman Kenneth Rushing in Coffeyville, Kansas, sharing sixty three years. She also attended Brumley School of Music and played piano for Albert Brumley on the radio. June was an accomplished pianist and played for several evangelistic groups. She and her husband were members of the evangelistic group, The Rushing Family singers. She was the pianist for her church and also enjoyed playing the accordion. While living in Florida, she worked eighteen years as a secretary and office manager for two Doctors. After living in Alabama and Florida for several years, she returned home to Sarcoxie in 1989. She was a member of Carthage First Church of The Nazarene. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jack Sooter.

June is survived by her husband; one son, Ken Rushing and wife Kathy of Sarcoxie, two daughters, Rowena Farley and husband Phil of Carthage, and Rhonda Seaton and husband Steve of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, John Farley and wife Cynthia, Kelly Rushing, Kyler Rushing and wife Kandy, Rebekah Bienhoff and husband Nate; Jacob Seaton and wife Christy and Heather Seaton; eleven great grandchildren and two due in December; one brother Gene Sooter and wife Wilma of Murphysboro, Tenn; one sister in law, Pat Sooter; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of family and friends.



Memorial services for Mrs. Rushing are 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Carthage First Church of The Nazarene with Pastor Dustin Ledford officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Gideon’s. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, Mo.
