Joyce DeGonia

Joyce Elaine DeGonia, 58 of Joplin, finished her race here on earth on Sunday, August 21, 2016 following a short illness while surrounded by family.

Joyce was born September 23, 1957 in Los Angeles, California to the late George Johnson and Betty Sprouse Johnson. At three days old she was brought to Joplin and raised by her grandparents, Ola and Ollie Sprouse until the age of 16. Joyce was a homemaker but also worked side by side with her husband, Larry while pastoring Faith Holiness Church of Joplin.

On September 21, 1974, Joyce married Lawrence DeGonia in Joplin and was about to celebrate 42 years of marriage together. Larry survives of the home.

Additional survivors include a son, Ron DeGonia and girlfriend, Stephanie of Joplin; daughter, Michelle Phillips and husband, Ron of Joplin; sister, Sheila Gardner and husband, Greg of Joplin; brothers, David Fisher of Joplin and Bill Fisher of Perkinston, Mississippi; five grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Other than her parents and grandparents, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Johnson.

Services for Joyce are planned for Wednesday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Joplin Family Worship Center with burial to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith Holiness Church in care of the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
