Mr. Luther Ray Smith, 70, of Lanagan, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday evening, August 9, 2016, in the comfort of his home.
Luther entered this life on May 31, 1946, in Pineville, Missouri, born to the union of the late Luther and Oley (Teague) Smith. He was a lifelong area resident of McDonald County. Throughout his life he worked as a truck driver and was a gifted mechanic. His previous worked history included, O’Brien Poultry and Cooper Communities. He retired delivering asphalt for highway and road construction projects. He enjoyed singing and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Luther was of the Pentecostal Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Erica Smith; and a sister, Helen Louise Ryan.
Luther is survived by his four children, Sam Smith of Goodman, Lisa Slaughter of Lanagan, Terry Smith of Goodman and Angela Smith of Anderson; three grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother, Jimmy Smith of Neosho; a sister, Mildred Childers of Goodman; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held graveside on Friday morning, August 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, Missouri, with Dr. Randy Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
