Beatrice Ann Fleener, age 84, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Spring River Christian Village of Joplin.
Ann was born February 26, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Joseph E. Fell and Beatrice Ann Chadwick Fell. Ann graduated from Olney High School in Philadelphia, and worked with Life Insurance Companies as a policy writer for Kemper and Zurich American. She traveled throughout her life, living and working in Philadelphia, Orlando, Florida, Dallas, Texas, Mesquite, Texas, and finally moving to the Joplin area. She and her husband, Joseph purchased an old Victorian home in Stella, Missouri which she enjoyed restoring. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and enjoyed working with the elderly after moving to this area through nursing home bible study, visiting the elderly, and through the church food pantry. She worked with troubled youth while in Dallas, and volunteered with the Fire Company Auxiliary while in Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fleener, Sr. who passed away on March 7, 2011.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann Hedrick and husband John of Carrollton, Texas; son, Joseph H. Fleener, Jr. and wife Dannielle of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, John Hedrick, Jr., and wife Teheray, Jill Hedrick and husband Chris, Abbie Fleener, Riley Fleener, Lillian Fleener, Gregory, Fleener; nieces and nephews including John Fleener, Tom Carty and wife Donna, Bette Parente and husband Lester, Barbara Wharton and husband Tom, Charlotte Humphries, and Willard Humphries.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Interment will be at a later date in a National Cemetery with her husband.
