Wilma Walker

Wilma Lee Bales Walker departed this life on August 1, 2018 in Neosho.
Wilma was born on Feb. 9, 1930, the youngest of six children, to Joseph Willard and Ethel (Duffield) Bales. 
 
She was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1948. Wilma spent two years in Washington, DC, working in the Court Martial Division of the U.S. Navy. She then worked in the family dairy business as a distributor for Hiland Dairy and later owned and operated ‘Four Seasons’ gift and decorating business with her daughter, Jan. Wilma enjoyed playing tennis, golf and bridge. She was a member of Chapter JO-PEO and a member of the First Christian Church in Neosho.

Wilma and Norman D. ‘Bill’ Walker were married in 1951 at Neosho and he preceded her in death in 1972. She is survived by two children, Janet Lee Walker Griffith and husband, Jerry and Jon Darrell Walker and Rose Hansen; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Griffith Spiva and husband, Mike; Emily Jane Griffith; Tyler Walker Swift; Evan Bales Griffith and wife, Heather and Chance Louis Walker; seven great grandchildren and two sisters, Marjorie Fausett and Bernadine Boyer.
In addition to her husband, Wilma is preceded in death by a son, Joe Neal Walker in 1997 and grandson, William Joseph ‘Bill’ Walker in 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at 10 am at the First Christian Church, Pastor Al Gritten will officiate. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Swift, Evan Griffith, Chance Walker, Mike Spiva, Kevin Selby and Richard Sweet.
