Mr. Edwin Larry Fairchild, 85, of Jane, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born on September 7, 1932, in Lottie, Louisiana, the only son born to the late Ed L. and Mabel (Chiasson) Fairchild.
He was raised in Baker, Louisiana and was a 1952, graduate of Baker High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, serving his country faithfully until being honorably discharged in 1956. On October 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Haire and to this union three children were born, Sherry, Ed and Kelly. They resided in South Louisiana where Edwin worked as a Master Electrician. In 1969 they moved their family to Jane, Missouri, and purchased a farm. Besides farming, he enjoyed working with wood, rebuilding old cars and fishing. He also built several homes in the Jane area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sherry Cooper; and a sister, Beverly Hock.
Edwin is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Sylvia Fairchild of the home; a son, Ed Fairchild and wife, Lillian, of Jane, Missouri; a daughter, Kelly Fairchild of Joplin, Missouri; four grandchildren, Sharon, Ashlie, Jennifer and Baker; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Talik and husband, Ralph, of Jane, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Fairchild are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jane, Missouri, with Bro. Hank Gorman officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Jane Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Danny Smith, Keith Smith, Baker Fairchild, Topher Guerber, Nathan Harvey, Butch Caldwell, Alan Wardlaw and Jason Collins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes.
