Kelly Henry

Kelly Jo Henry, age 55, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Friday August 31, 2018, at National Healthcare, following a twenty-two year battle with Huntington’s Disease.

Kelly was born on February 23, 1963 in Joplin, the daughter of James John Black and Yolanda (Platner) Black Huff. She has been a lifetime Joplin resident. She attended MSSU and Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, Mo., majoring in nursing. She has been a longtime member of Central Christian Center. Kelly married Darrin Henry on June 19, 1982 in Joplin and together they raised two daughters.

She is survived by her husband Darrin Henry, Carl Junction, Mo.; two daughters, Krystal Allen and husband Kapali, Diamond, Mo. and Tiffany Henry, Carl Junction, Mo.; her mother and stepfather, Yolanda and Nate Huff, Joplin; her mother-in-law, Barbara Henry, Duenweg, Mo.; one sister, Tracy Misner, Joplin, Mo.; her sister-in-law Kathi Cassady and husband Tom, Joplin; five grandchildren, Lorelai Rodriguez, Ziona Sullivan, Aveyah Sullivan, Kaytlyn Sullivan, and Phynix Sullivan; with one granddaughter Letty Allen on her way; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father James John Black in 1998; by her father-in-law, Jerry Henry in 2017; and a brother-in-law Jeff Misner in 2018.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Center. Pastor Phil Platner and Pastor Hank Deslatte will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family strongly suggests, in lieu of flowers Memorial contribution be given to HDSA (An organization that aids with those suffering from Huntington’s Disease) in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
