Charlie Gilstrap

Charles G. 'Charlie' Gilstrap, Jr., age 67, Joplin, passed away at 5:34 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, due to a sudden illness.

Charlie was born March 30, 1952 in Joplin to the late Charles G. Gilstrap, Sr. and Lewella Dickinson Gilstrap and had lived in Joplin most of his life.

He worked as a mechanic at Gus Shaffar Ford for several years. Charlie then owned and operated Creative Lawn Service for several years.

Charlie was an avid Beatles music lover. He could be found watching NASCAR every Sunday and recorded most WWE matches. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He married Beverly Stripling on November 12, 1993 in Joplin. She survives.








Additional survivors include a daughter, Tracy Gilstrap, Joplin; son, Christopher Gilstrap, Florida; grandchildren, Ryan, Ciera, Bryson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Sluder and Mary Derrick.

Graveside services are planned for Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hornet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hornet Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
