John Earl Smerdon, III, 71, Neosho, entered into rest on July 7, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, following an extended illness. John was born July 28, 1947 in Joplin, the son of John, Jr. and Frances (Cooley) Smerdon.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He worked as a machinist in the aerospace industry, retiring twenty five years ago.
John and Linda (Brock) were married on Sept. 16, 1967 and she survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Kristin; two brothers, David Smerdon and Tim Smerdon; sister in law, Kathy Smerdon; two grandchildren, Elle and Ike Grammer and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; his father in law and mother in law, John and Peggy Brock and a brother, Steve Smerdon.
John will be cremated and memorial services are pending at this time.
