Charles E. Dorris, age 79, of Galena, Ks., passed away on Wednesday December 31, 2014, at his home, following and illness.
Charles was born on December 8, 1935 in Joplin, the son of the late Herschel and Glenna (Foster) Dorris. He has been a lifetime area resident. He worked many years for Z-Tech, and several years for Doane Products in security. He enjoyed working on cars and selling them. He played the guitar and loved to fish. He was a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by three brothers, Greg Dorris and his wife Debra, Doniphan, Mo., Joe Dorris and his wife Ruth, Jasper, Mo., and Gary L. Dorris, Miami, Ok.; three sisters, Connie Gibson, Joplin, Donna Ebbs, Galena, Ks., and Daisy Wilson, of Virginia; his close friend, Mary Higgins; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Dorris.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 5, 2015 at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery, Joplin. The Reverend Joel Dorris will officiate. Terry Gibson, Gary Dorris, Jr., Greg Dorris, Jr., Gary Wilson, Jr., Jody Dorris and Doug Dorris will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M., an hour before the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
