Flossie D. Mathis, age 92, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at National Health Care of Joplin.
Flossie was born September 8, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of the late Ed Bennett and Essa Bernice Sowers Bennett. She grew up in Joplin, and graduated from Joplin High School. She worked for Keystone American Laundry, and loved country music.
She married Glen Leslie Mathis, and they enjoyed 46 years together before his death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Bennett; a sister, Eva Russell; and a 1/2 brother, Bill Bennett.
She is survived by her four children, Glen E. Mathis and Mary Sitton, Les Mathis and wife Mary, Janice Trewin and Mark Newman, and Donnie Mathis and wife Cheryl; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending at this time. Inurnment of her ashes will be private at a later date next to her husband in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
