Jeannie Myers, age 78, Miami, Oklahoma, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at The Communities of Wildwood Ranch.
Jeannie was born August 26, 1936 in Quincy, Mississippi to the late Woodie Gideon and Olene Sims Gideon and had lived in the Joplin area since 1967.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband, Russell, on the family farm in Weir, Kansas for many years. She had been a member at Asbury First Baptist Church; Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and attended Wayside Assembly in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. She was a child of God and enjoyed singing in church.
Jeannie loved crafts and fishing. She spent many hours playing card games and dominoes with her family and was known to bend the rules if it meant a victory in her favor.
In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Myers on May 13, 2004.
Survivors include her daughter, Misty Hammer and her husband, Bryan, Joplin; a son, James Myers and his wife, Rebecca, Webb City; grandchildren, David, Mason, Caine, Adrianna, Orion; one great grandson, Cross; a sister-in-law, Carol Esterline, Joplin; and her mother-in-law, Wilma Myers, Asbury.
Services are planned for Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Danny Burleson will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
