Frank Michael Miller, age 86 of Joplin passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Frank was born December 12, 1928 to the late John H. and Catherine Hageman Miller in Olpe, Kansas. He served our country for two years as a Marine and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he retired as an E7 Master Sergeant with 20 years of service to our country. Frank owned and operated Action Appliance in Joplin for many years where he used his skills to help out many repairing appliances for no charge. He was a member of Southside Community Church of God in Joplin where he was an Elder, Sunday School Teacher and did many of the repair work and general maintenance around the church. Frank was co-founder of Inmate's Family Support Group, which served families of prison inmates around the area. He was a member of the Joplin chapter of the Retired Enlisted Association. In any spare time, Frank always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On February 20, 1960, Frank married his beautiful wife, Rita Gaylene Mercer in Topeka, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Trentham and husband Paul of Joplin, Lisa Lawson of Joplin, Elizabeth Tyurikov and husband Oleg of Joplin; five grandchildren, Matthew Lawson, Orin Trentham, Megan Lawson, Michael Trentham and Catherine Tyurikov; brother, Joseph A. Miller and wife Esther of Monett, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by a son in-law, Terry Lawson and eight sisters.
Funeral service is planned for Friday, January 30, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Southside Community Church of God. Family will receive friends Thursday between 6-7:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
