Marjorie Anne Haggart Bell, age 76 of Joplin, passed away at her home at 6:05 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015, after a short illness.
Born August 27, 1938, in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Marjorie Haggart, and was a lifelong Joplin resident. She graduated from Joplin High School and attended Business College in Hawaii. On August 31, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Tyra C. Bell, Jr. in Joplin. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2010.
Always family centered, she raised her children before becoming an optician with Regional Eye Center, where she worked for over 30 years. Marjorie was a Christian that loved animals, particularly her cats and dogs.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Bell and wife Sharon of Joplin; Jeff Bell and wife Chalaine of Joplin; Tom Bell and wife Paula of Bixby, OK; five grandchildren, Dane Bell and wife Katie of Joplin; Madison Kyger of Diamond, MO; Ian Kyger of Salt Lake City, UT; Tylan Bell and Peyton Bell, both of Bixby, OK.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her first born infant son, Thomas Douglas Bell, and an aunt, Barbara Rowlette.
A Memorial Funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church at 10:30am on Saturday, February 7, with Father Steve Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Private family services are planned at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joplin Humane Society, in care of Parker Mortuary.
