DaWanda Louise Mitchell, age 71 of Webb City, Missouri passed away January 16, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
DaWanda was born August 11, 1943 to the late Harrison Nelson and Minnie B. Boles Nelson in Neosho, Mo. She graduated high school from Neosho. DaWanda was a longtime resident of Webb City but was raised in the Spurgeon area as a young child.
DaWanda worked for St. John’s and The Meadows but was most proud of being a Homemaker, raising her children and taking great care of her husband, Rex. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and soon to be a great-grandmother. DaWanda was a part of the VFW Auxiliary and attended Forest Park North.
She was a loving wife to Rex Mitchell whom she married January 31, 1964. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include daughters, LaDonna Hedrick and husband Tom of Webb City, Lucinda West and husband Richard; grandchildren, Ashley Mitchell, Joshua Hedrick and wife Kayla, Jacob Hedrick, Wyatt Hedrick, Vennessa Ash, Tristan Ash, Isaac West; several in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends that will miss her.
DaWanda was preceded in death by one infant son, Raymond Harrison Mitchell; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Park North.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
