Georgia R. Ray, age 82, of Joplin, MO passed away at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Spring River Christian Village following a lengthy illness. Georgia was born October 10, 1932 in Columbus, KS and had lived in the Joplin-Webb City area most of her life. Georgia was a seamstress with Miller Mfg. Co. in Joplin and later R.E.R. Apparel in Webb City. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was formerly active in a Joplin bowling league.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, George Ray, two brothers, Jerry A. Jones, and Paul D. Jones, and a stepson, Bill Ray. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Elkins, Webb City, MO, three step sons; George Ray, stationed with the U. S. Navy in Texas, Roy Lee Ray, Joplin, and Steve Ray and wife Jean, Carl Junction, MO, a brother, Dick Jones and wife Virginia, Joplin, a sister, Mary Stribling, Joplin, three grandchildren; Justin Elkins and wife Chelsea, Jason Elkins and wife Cassie, and Marci Shofler and husband Eric, and six great grandchildren.
Georgia will be cremated and her ashes buried in the Carterville Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday, January 12th at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, MO
