Tommie Lee Sandtorf, age 65 of Carl Junction, passed away suddenly at home at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Born December 29, 1949 in Webb City, he was the son of the late Budwin Miles (Red) Sandtorf and Anna Mae Kennedy Sandtorf and lived in the Joplin area his lifetime. A 1968 graduate of Seneca High School, he received his Bachelor degree in Information Technology from MSSU and retired from that field last year. Tom was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting with his grandson and spending time with his family.
On June 20, 1970 he married Elaine S. Fry in Seneca. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Lee Warren Sandtorf and wife Lynette of Carl Junction, Timothy Neal Sandtorf and Laura Sanders of Carl Junction; two grandchildren, Derek Noah Sandtorf and Kyla LeAnn Sandtorf, both of Carl Junction; a sister, Sonja McNett and husband Jamie of Boise, ID; a niece, Leslie Ann Stewart of Kuna, ID; four great nephews and his well-loved schnauzers, Fritz and Willy.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Parker Mortuary with Rev. Johnny Wilkins and Rev. Darin Youngberg officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Baptist Children’s Home or Joplin Humane Society.
