Mary Elizabeth Reynolds, age 84, of Golden City, Mo., passed away on Friday January 23, 2015, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, following an illness.
Mary was born on January 20, 1931 in Lula, Ok., the daughter of the late Charlie and Stella (Matthews) Reed.. She has been a resident of Joplin since 1967, moving here from McAlester, Ok. While in McAlester she owned and operated Murray’s Cafe. She was a member of the Nazarene Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking.
She married Ray Thomas Murray and he preceded her in death in 1965. She married William Lee Reynolds in November of 1967 in McAllester, Ok. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Reynolds-Wiseman; two brothers, James Reed and Royce Reed; and two half- sisters, Joyce and Alma Reed. Mary is survived by two daughters, Deorthy Russell and husband Lowman, Nacgdoches, Tx., and Barbara Boles and husband Donald, Golden City, Mo.; six sons, Jimmie Murray, Fairfax, Va., William Murray and wife Pam O’Brien, Joplin, Mo., Johnny Murray and wife Trish, Tucson, Az.; Charles Murray and wife Ilene, Joplin, Mo., Darryl Reynolds and wife Elizabeth, Joplin, and Michael Reynolds and wife Dixie, Neck City, Mo.; one sister, Charlene Moon, and eighty-seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jim Marcum will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the International House of Prayer in care of the mortuary.
