Marie Dawson

Marie M. Dawson, 85, Neosho, died December 31, 2014 at Freeman West in Joplin, following a lengthy illness. 

She was born January 15, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Purcell) Pizzo. Marie moved to Neosho in the early 1970’s from Kokomo, Indiana. She worked for 29 years at the Newton County Courthouse as a Deputy Collector. Prior to that, she worked for Hawaiian Bell as an operator. Marie was a very devoted wife and mother and loved her pets, especially her dog, Bailey. She was the former President of the Women’s Republican Club of Newton County, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary of Houston, Texas and was a Roman Catholic. Marie loved to make afghans and cook Italian food.

 She married Thomas Allen Dawson in 1954 in Kentucky and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1998. Marie is survived by two children, Carl Dawson and wife, Pamela of Springfield, Missouri and Theresa A. Dawson of Raytown, Missouri.

The visitation will be held 9:00 -10:00 AM prior to the service time.
