Doris Jean Caldwell, age 84 of Joplin, MO., passed away early Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin surrounded by her family.
Doris Jean was born on September 30, 1930, in Prescott, AZ., the daughter of Rev. Perry and Lena (Howeah) McArthur. She has been a Joplin resident since 1963, where she spent her days loving and caring for her family as a homemaker. Doris Jean was an active member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church.
She married James L. Caldwell on July 31, 1953; he survives. Additional survivors include one son, Jim Caldwell, Jr. of Joplin; two daughters, Julie Andrews of Joplin, Dr. Pamela Pogson and her husband, Dr. Bill Pogson, of Blue Springs, Mo.; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Andrews, Catherine Pogson Lewis, Austin Andrews, Dylan Caldwell, Jonah Caldwell and Corrie Pogson. Doris Jean was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Perry and Kenneth McArthur.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Pastor Bob Dart, officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
