Lance Townsley, age 58, of Lamar, Missouri passed away Sunday January 25, 2015 at his home with family at his side.
Lance was born March 7, 1956 in Iola, Kansas, one of the three children of Cyrus and B.J. (McCall) Townsley. He was preceded in death by his father, Cyrus, his step-father, Ray Gonzalez, and grandparents, Wayne & Thelma McCall.
After graduating from Wichita South High School, Lance served in the U.S. Navy. Lance married Jerri Soma on August 25, 1988, in Lamar. As a master electrician, Lance owned and operated Preventative Maintenance Systems for many years and was currently working for Sugarcreek in Pittsburg, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing and golfing at Lamar Country Club, but his favorite pastime was following Kansas Jayhawk basketball.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Jerri Soma-Townsley, Lamar; two daughters, Colee Townsley-Grubb and husband Sean of Joplin, and Chelle Gardner and husband Mark of Lamar; a son, Joey Garringer and wife Jenni, El Dorado Springs, Missouri; his mother, B.J. Gonzalez, Moran, Kansas; a sister, Sandra (Daryl) Drake, Moran; a brother, Billy (Celia) Townsley, San Diego, California; and four grandchildren, Jilli and Brody Gardner and Trevyn and Tayah Garringer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Pancreatic Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
