Conley Allison

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Conley Allison, age 80, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, departed this life on January 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Conley was born on Jan. 6th 1939, in Binger, Oklahoma, son of Lula Mae Allison. Conley spent his younger years in the Binger area, and then moved to Hayward California with his Grandparents, Bud and Opal Allison in the mid 1940’s.

In the early 1950’s, Conley met the love of his life, Carol Lovingier whom also lived in the Hayward area. They soon became inseparable and eventually married on Conley’s birthday, Jan 6th 1955. The marriage led to the birth of their three children, Rodney, Johnny and Theresa. At the time of Conley’s death, they were married 65 years.

In 1960, Conley joined the Navy and worked on an Aircraft Carrier. Conley was often mischievous which would result in various forms of naval disciplinary actions. The family remembers him talking about having to peel hundreds upon hundreds of potatoes by hand. He served time in the both the Philippines and in the Vietnam area in the South China Sea. He was honorably discharged on his birthday, Jan. 6th 1966, having served six years for our countries freedom.

In 1956, Conley's grandparents, Bud and Opal Allison purchased an 80 acre farm east of Powell Missouri and moved to the area. The family would frequently visit them in Missouri as often as the long car voyage from California to Missouri would allow. Conley’s family truly fell in love with the Powell Ozark region during these visits. It soon became an aspiration to someday live in the same area and enjoy the hills and streams of Powell.

In the early 1970’s, Conley and Carol purchased 85 areas of property on Pine Log Road, North of Powell, with the intention of retiring on the property. In August on 1974, the family packed up and moved to Missouri.

After leaving the Navy, Conley worked at a pickle factory, but soon started operating heavy equipment. While in Missouri, he spent several years running a Caterpillar D8 Dozer clearing land. Conley was very meticulous about his work and the care of the equipment. People would often compliment him on the job that he performed.

In 1986, Conley went to work for the McDonald County Road department operating a road grader. Back then, there were no chip & seal roads, but people always said that Conley’s dirt roads were like a “dirty road highway”. On July 1st 2001, Conley retired from the County.

Conley is preceded in death by his mother Lula Mae and husband Jim, grandparents Bud & Opal Allison and daughter in law Anna Allison.

He is survived by his wife Carol, two sons and one daughter, Rodney Allison and wife Leah of Powell, John Allison and wife Dianne of Rocky Comfort and Theresa and husband Greg Hammon of Stella Missouri, 2 brothers Edward & Elwin, 8 sisters Opal, Shirley, Patsy, Betty, Bernice, Glenda, Nora & Karen. Conley and Carol have 6 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors for Conley are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Fox Cemetery on Mikes Creek Road, 2.8 miles from Powell Missouri with Bro. Billy Joe Gentry officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Will Allison, Luke Earnshaw, Zach Dillow, Chris Jones, Chris Allison, Justin Allison, Lane Allison and Hunter Leach.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri. www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
